Diversions & Inspirations of the Week | The Photography of Matt Stuart

The composition of a photograph is integral to it's success or failure.

Like Elliott Erwitt, documentary Photographer Matt Stuart is a master of catching humorous composition in real moments, and he has become one of my favorite all time photographers. When you look at his work, make sure you look close, as some of his photographs have multiple layers, and the point behind each photo is not always obvious.

Take a look at his wonderful website here!

Wedding Sneak Peek | Laura + Geren

The rest of the blog images are coming soon, but I thought I would post one of my favroite images from Laura & Geren's wedding...This was taken right before they got in a elevator to go downstairs and have petals thrown at them...A quite moment alone (sort of) at the end of the night.

Laura Bridal Portrait | The Canals in Las Colinas

We photographed Laura's bridal portrait at the Las Colinas Canals last month, but she wanted to wait until after the wedding to post the photos on the blog....We shot the wedding last weekend (photos coming soon!), so I thought I would post the bridal photos!

3 Weddings, 17 Days and 6100 Miles

As you may or may not know, Leigh and I travel to quite a few weddings every year, about 40% or so of our yearly number of weddings are either out of the city, state or country...In about 8 hours, we leave for our longest trip in our 12 year wedding careers: 3 weddings in a row in Philadelphia, Connecticut and then overseas for a two part wedding in France (the civil ceremony is being held in Paris, and the family ceremony is being held 3 hours away by "Super Fast Train" and a 45 min car ride close to Marseille, France)...(and thanks to our groom Thierry who corrected me on the time it will take to get there!

Packing is NOT fun for these (in fact, Leigh is rushing around as we speak trying to fit everything we need into one suitcase, and by the sound of it, it does not look like it is working out very well), but we will make it work, (I hope)...

We will have email and phone access for the entire trip, so don't feel like you can't call, we always love to hear from our clients! :)

We will be blogging constantly from the road, of course!

Diversions & Inspirations of the Week | Magnum Street Photographer Bruce Gilden

"I'm known for taking pictures very close, and the older I get, the closer I get."

In my quest to drawn inspiration from all types of photography, I ran across Bruce Gilden.

I think that true Street Photography is probably one of the hardest photographic mediums to master. Not only do you have to get true moments of people on the street, you have to do it without getting beat up in the process...

Magnum photographer Bruce Gilden has mastered the art, and then some...walking the streets of New York, he photographs people before they even know he is there, with sometimes unpredictable results...

The photographs are Raw, meaty and stand in a stark contrast with most of the glitz and glamor that invades most of our daily lives...

Click Here for samples of his work on his website at Magnum Photos...

and below is a Wonderful YouTube video of a interview with him as he walks the streets of New York, and shows how he photographs people...
